Congratulations on your Dakota Lithium purchase! Here is everything you need to know to get started.
Step 1: Unboxing
Your battery arrives in protective packaging with terminals covered. Remove all packaging materials and inspect for any shipping damage. If you notice any issues, contact us immediately at support@lfpo4.com.
Step 2: Initial Charge
Your battery ships at approximately 50% charge. We recommend a full charge before first use:
- Use a LiFePO4-compatible charger (14.2-14.6V for 12V batteries)
- Charge time: 2-4 hours depending on battery size
- The BMS will automatically stop charging when full
Step 3: Installation
- Connect positive (+) terminal first, then negative (-)
- Torque terminals to 10-12 Nm — finger-tight plus 1/4 turn
- Ensure cables are properly sized for your load
- Secure the battery so it cannot slide or tip
Step 4: Charger Settings
Set your charger or solar controller to the LiFePO4 profile. Key settings:
- Bulk/Absorption voltage: 14.4V (12V system)
- Float voltage: 13.6V (12V system)
- Low voltage cutoff: 10.0V (12V system)
