Why choose this over the MultiPlus 2000?

If you run an air conditioner, induction cooktop, or multiple large appliances simultaneously, the 3000VA handles loads the 2000VA cannot. The 120A charger also recharges batteries 50% faster than the 80A charger. Worth the upgrade for full-time RV, liveaboard, or off-grid use.

Can I run an RV air conditioner on this?

Yes — most RV rooftop AC units draw 1200-1800W running with a 2500-3500W startup surge. The 3000VA handles both running and starting. With the MultiPlus 2000VA, AC startup is borderline.

Do I still need a separate charger?

No. The 120A built-in charger handles all shore/generator charging. Add an Orion-Tr DC-DC for alternator charging while driving, and a SmartSolar MPPT for solar — but the MultiPlus-II handles all AC charging itself.
