Description
The Dakota Lithium 36V 60Ah Deep Cycle LiFePO4 Battery puts full 36V trolling motor power in a single Group 31 case — no series wiring, no balance issues, no three-battery headaches. At 44 lbs (75% lighter than the lead-acid equivalent) with 2,304Wh of energy and 60A continuous discharge, it’s purpose-built for bass boats, pontoons, and saltwater guides who demand all-day runtime from one clean install.
Key Features
- ✓ Single-case 36V — one battery replaces three 12V batteries wired in series. No balance issues, no series cables, simpler install.
- ✓ 2,304Wh energy (60Ah) — all-day trolling on a single charge. Tournament anglers report 2+ full days of fishing per charge.
- ✓ 44 lbs (20 kg) — 75% lighter than 3× lead-acid in series. Improves boat speed, handling, and fuel economy.
- ✓ Group 31 footprint — same case size as a standard 12V 100Ah lead-acid. Fits existing battery trays without modification.
- ✓ 60A continuous / 180A pulse — handles 36V motors up to 112 lb thrust at full speed without voltage sag.
- ✓ Parallel up to 10 units — scale capacity for multi-day tournaments or guide operations.
- ✓ 5,000 cycle lifespan / 11-year warranty — outlasts 8-10 sets of lead-acid trolling batteries.
- ✓ Flat voltage curve — full power from first cast to last. No afternoon voltage fade like lead-acid.

Important: Cold Weather Warning
This battery does NOT have Even-Heat technology. Do not charge below 32°F (0°C). Charging in freezing conditions can permanently damage LiFePO4 cells. If fishing in cold weather, charge indoors or in a heated space before heading out. The battery can safely discharge down to -4°F — it’s only charging that must stay above freezing.
Applications
- 36V trolling motors — Minn Kota Terrova, Ultrex, Fortrex; MotorGuide Tour, Xi5 (all 36V models up to 112 lb thrust)
- Bass boats — single battery in bow compartment replaces 3× Group 27 lead-acid. 100+ lb weight savings.
- Tournament fishing — 2+ full tournament days per charge. Parallel two for multi-day events without shore power.
- Saltwater boats — saltwater trolling motors, guide operations, offshore applications.
- Pontoon boats — 36V motor systems for larger pontoons and deck boats.
- Kayak trolling — at 44 lbs, feasible for large kayaks with 36V motor mounts.
Runtime Estimates
| 80 lb thrust (speed 3-4) | ~8-10 hours |
|---|---|
| 100 lb thrust (speed 5) | ~5-7 hours |
| 112 lb thrust (speed 7-8) | ~3-4 hours |
| 112 lb thrust (full speed 10) | ~1.5-2 hours |
Actual runtime depends on wind, current, boat weight, and speed setting. Most anglers fish at speed 3-5 with bursts to higher speeds, getting full tournament days from one charge.
Compatible Accessories
- Ultra Fast 36V 20A Waterproof Charger — IP67, full charge in ~2 hours. Purpose-built for this battery.
- 36V Single Case Connection System — plug-and-play wiring kit for bass boat front deck install
- Connect-Ease 36V Trolling Motor Kit — quick-disconnect wiring for easy battery swaps
- Marine Battery Tray (Group 31) — secure mounting for rough water
- Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 — solar top-off charging (set for 36V system)
Why Single-Case 36V is Better Than 3× 12V in Series
- No cell imbalance — series-wired batteries drift apart over time, reducing capacity. Single-case BMS manages all cells together.
- Simpler wiring — two terminals instead of six. One connection to trolling motor, one to charger.
- Lighter — 44 lbs vs 80+ lbs (3× Group 24 batteries).
- Less space — one Group 31 tray vs three Group 24/27 slots.
- One warranty — one battery, one serial number, one 11-year claim if needed.
FAQ
Will this work with my Minn Kota Ultrex 112?
Yes. The 36V 60Ah provides 60A continuous and 180A pulse — more than enough for any consumer 36V trolling motor including the Ultrex 112, Terrova 112, and MotorGuide Tour Pro 109. At full throttle you’ll get ~2 hours; at typical fishing speeds (3-5) you’ll get a full tournament day.
Can I charge this with my existing 36V charger?
Only if it’s specifically a 36V LiFePO4 charger with a 42V max charge voltage. Do NOT use a 36V lead-acid charger — they typically charge to 44.1V which will trigger the BMS and can damage cells over time. The Dakota Lithium 36V 20A Waterproof Charger is purpose-built for this battery.
How many do I need for all-day fishing?
One battery is enough for most single-day fishing at normal trolling speeds. For multi-day tournaments without shore power, wire two in parallel (120Ah / 4,608Wh) for worry-free extended runtime. Up to 10 can be paralleled.
Can I use this in Canadian spring fishing?
Yes for use (discharging works to -4°F). But charging must happen above 32°F — this model does NOT have Even-Heat cold charging. Charge indoors or in a heated truck before heading to the lake on cold mornings. Do not plug in the charger at a cold boat slip overnight in early spring.
