Description

The Dakota Lithium 24V 60Ah Deep Cycle Battery is a single-case 24V solution for trolling motors and marine systems — no series wiring of two 12V batteries needed. At 24.9 lbs (70% lighter than lead-acid equivalent) with 1,536Wh of energy and 80A continuous discharge, it's Dakota Lithium's "Top Pick" for 24V trolling motor anglers who want simplicity, light weight, and all-day runtime.

Important: Cold Weather Warning

This battery does NOT have Even-Heat technology. Do not charge below 32°F (0°C). Charge indoors or in heated spaces during cold weather. Discharging works fine down to -20°F — only charging must stay above freezing.

Applications

  • 24V trolling motors — Minn Kota Terrova, Ultrex, PowerDrive (all 24V models, 55-80 lb thrust)
  • Technical skiffs — ultra-lightweight 24V power for shallow water boats where every pound matters
  • Mid-size bass boats — single battery bow mount instead of two Group 27s in series
  • Kayak trolling — at 24.9 lbs, practical for kayak and canoe motor setups
  • 24V RV systems — lighter alternative to two 12V batteries for 24V inverter setups

Runtime Estimates (24V Trolling Motors)

55 lb thrust (speed 3-4) ~8-10 hours
70 lb thrust (speed 5) ~5-7 hours
80 lb thrust (speed 7-8) ~3-4 hours
80 lb thrust (full speed 10) ~1.5-2 hours

Compatible Accessories

  • Dakota Lithium 24V 5A Charger — basic wall charger, full charge in ~12 hours (overnight)

  • Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 — solar top-off (configure for 24V system)
Features & Benefits
  • Single-case 24V — one battery replaces two 12V batteries in series. No balance issues, simpler wiring, fewer connections.
  • 24.9 lbs (11.3 kg) — 70% lighter than equivalent SLA. Dramatic weight savings in boat bow compartments.
  • 1,536Wh energy (60Ah) — all-day trolling on a single charge for most 24V motors.
  • 80A continuous / 100A pulse — handles 24V trolling motors at full throttle without voltage sag.
  • Group 24 compact — 9.1 × 6.8 × 8.66 in. Fits standard battery trays and compartments.
  • Flat voltage curve — full power from first cast to last. No afternoon fade.
  • 5,000 cycle lifespan / 11-year warranty — outlasts 8-10 sets of lead-acid trolling batteries.
  • Series-capable to 48V — wire two for a 48V system if you upgrade your motor later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Single-case 24V vs two 12V in series — which is better?

Single-case advantages: simpler wiring (2 terminals vs 4), no series cables, no cell imbalance between batteries, lighter total weight (24.9 lbs vs ~55 lbs for 2× 12V 100Ah), and one BMS managing all cells together. The tradeoff: you can't use one of the 12V batteries for something else. For pure 24V trolling, single-case wins on simplicity and weight.

Can I use this for a 24V trolling motor AND charge it from my 12V alternator?

Not directly. A 12V alternator can't charge a 24V battery. You need either: (1) the 24V 5A or 20A wall charger at the dock, (2) a 24V solar setup with MPPT controller, or (3) a specialized 12V-to-24V DC-DC charger. The Victron Orion-Tr 12/24 would work but isn't in our current lineup.

What charger do I need?

Any 24V LiFePO4 charger with 28.8V max output. The Dakota Lithium 24V 5A is the budget option (12-hour charge). The 24V 20A Waterproof is for fast charging and permanent onboard install (3-hour charge). Do NOT use a standard 24V lead-acid charger — they charge to 29.4V+ which can damage cells.
